Freesoul Marine art jack woods seapainting

Freesoul

Oil on Canvas Board
10 x 12 inches
Private Collection
This painting depicts the ketch rigged Manitou class yacht Freesoul  sailing in Port Phillip Bay with the replica topsail schooner Enterprize in the background.

Freesoul was fitted out, from the mouldings, in the late 1970s by Kevin Martin. She is ketch rigged with a cutter bow, and the addition of a three foot bowsprit and voyaged  to North Queensland.

Kevin is currently(2017) the Master of the topsail schooner Enterprize which trades out of Docklands with voyages to Tasmania, and along the Victorian coast. Although it is unlikely that the two vessels actually crossed paths in the Bay, the painting symbolises Kevin’s long period of marine involvement.
